(More customer reviews)I originally bought four National 1 1/2" double pulleys to rig an eight-pulley block and tackle using 3/8" poly/nylon rope, but the system had too much friction and didn't operate smoothly. I replaced the pulleys with eight National 3" pulleys and now it works great. It is rigged for a 7/1 lifting advantage, ignoring friction. I just built a new garage that was designed with a 4' x 4' opening in the ceiling and floored above for storage. I use the block and tackle and a lifting platform to move stuff into and out of the storage area. I have to pull a lot of rope (about 90') to lift or lower the platform, but I can move heavy items with ease. I did a lot of looking before settling on National pulleys and found them to be the best quality per dollar out there.
