After having a new 15' garage door installed in my workshop, I purchased a 16' Storm Shield garage door threshold kit to keep out rainwater from seeping in underneath the door. I found the rubber threshold itself to be of very good quality, but, the two tubes of cement (around 4 - 6 oz. tubes) that came with it were hard to use. That is, I found it difficult to squeeze out the beads of cement fast enough along the threshold's entire length before they began to harden - i.e. outer layer of cement skinned over. It would have been much better if the company provided a large enough tube of cement that one could apply with a caulking gun. Also, if you lay down the cement according to the tight pattern shown in the instructions, you will not have enough cement for the entire length of threshold. In spite of the fact that I spread the cement as evenly as I could and then rolled the top of the threshold to adhere it to the concrete floor, a small amount of rainwater leaked under the threshold a week later. I've since fixed this by caulking the outside edge of the threshold with GE Silicone II caulking compound.
If you're going to use this product, I suggest that you discard the cement supplied with it. Then purchase a large tube of Liquid Nails and apply it quickly with a manual caulking gun. For added waterproofing you might add an additional bead of a silicone caulking compound under the outside edge of the threshold before you turn it over and position it on the floor of your garage. In preparation for this job I clean the area of the concrete floor well with detergent and clean water rinses. After the floor has dried, I'll lay down a chalk line denoting the outer edge of the threshold. Finally, I apply masking tape along this chalk line. This tells me where the threshold's outside edge should be and later allows me to trim off the hardened, excess silicone compound with a razor blade or utility knife. This excess caulking will then come away with the masking tape and leave a nice attractive edge on the outside of your new threshold.
