(More customer reviews)I installed 2 of these units in my garage and am reasonably satisfied with them. My biggest complaint is that the laser dot should be brighter. When entering the garage on a bright summer day it is difficult to see the dot. One of my cars is silver and the other is dark gray. I can't see the dot until it hits my dash which is black in both cars.
The installation was extremely straightforward since the units were attached to a Chamberlain system. One potential "gotcha" is that the wiring that comes with the unit is too short for most garages. You will likely need to buy some additional two conductor wire and spice it to the end of the existing wire.
These units can be used with non-Chamberlain systems or for that matter in a garage without any opener system. Each unit is supplied with a plug in the wall AC adaptor. With the unit attached to the adaptor, the laser stays on all the time. Obviously, I can't comment about how long the unit would last when set up this way.
