(More customer reviews)I bought one of these openers shortly after they came on the market last year directly from North Shore. The opener is very good. The only negative thing I have to say is make sure to buy the extension tube that allows you to adapt to the commercial roll-up door. I was told I didn't need it. Rather than to re-order the extension and wait for it to come in, I decided to modify the shaft to fit the drive gear by drilling a couple new holes. Do so at your own risk! Regardless, I got it working properly. I am using approx. 9' x 7' Trac T roll-up storage unit doors on my 3950. I would recommend you get the mounting bracket for the opener as well as the chain guard. The mounting bracket may need to be strengthened with a couple of 2x4s so it doesn't wiggle. It makes a tremendous difference. The bracket itself is very sturdy metal construction, but with all the weight of the opener and the vibration of the unit operating, making it solid is the way to go. You want the opener rock-solid so as not to put any lateral strain on the chain as the opener operates the chain, gears, and door. I was able to align the electric eyes properly on the first try. I was also able to program the remotes on the first try. I had to go thru the stop/start procedure a couple times, but it wasn't bad. I love the soft start and stop feature on this opener. It's perfect every time. If you are using storage unit-type roll-up doors, don't be nervous when the door unrolls. It may seem like it's slipping, but it's a calculated roll and un-roll. I would suggest you purchase the overhead light for this unit as well. I am really glad I got the light. It stays on for 5 minutes, which is generally enough time to get in and out. I am going to buy the remote that turns just the light on. I also hooked the light to a separate outlet rather than hard-wiring it in. The light did malfunction on me 1 time in the last 9 months or so. All I did was unplug it, wait a few seconds, plugged it back in, and it's worked fine ever since. This has been a great product for me so far.
