(More customer reviews)The remote did not work out of the box. After tinkering with it for about an hour, I took out a voltmeter to measure the battery voltage and noticed the battery was dead. So be prepared to spend an extra $5 at radio shack for the replacement. There are some complications with this, however. Taking the battery is not a small task on this remote. Although the remote looks identical on the outside to the other one I have, Genie has changed the battery type from the 9V A23 battery that is just like a small AAA battery to a circular 3V lithium battery. There are no instructions on how to change the battery, but it takes partial disassembly of the remote to remove the battery. Additionally, the instructions explaining the polarity of the battery are incorrect (reversed). After spending half my afternoon getting the battery issue resolved, the remote works fine, although it seems to have about a 1 second delay that my other remote does not have. This is minor, though. The two stars are for the remote being sent with a dead battery and for not providing appropriate instructions of removal and proper installation of a new one.
