(More customer reviews)The battery ran out on my old chunky remote, so I figured it was a good time to upgrade to a slimmer keychain remote (especially since I couldn't find any A23 batteries that were not in a 20 pack: I only need one!)
So I verified this should be the correct one for my Sears Craftsman door opener. When I got it, I was very frustrated for a while as it seemed not to work. I set the dip switches EXACTLY as they are on the old remote and it would not work (I even tried reversing the order, something I saw in a review of another remote, still didnt work). Finally, just as I was about to give up, I noticed the first Dip switch says "40" on it while the others say nothing, and my original remote said nothing on the first switch. So on a whim, I tried the first dip switch in a different position and bam! it worked. So if you set the dips and it doesn't work, try changing the first switch.(the little instruction pamphlet said nothing about this)
The range seems very limited compared to the original remote. The old remote would seem to open the door from several houses down, while this remote only seems to work within the driveway and I have to point a specific way directly to the garage door. But it works, so I don't think thats a big deal really.
