(More customer reviews)The package came in two pieces and was considerably heavy so I would recommend a second person to help move things around. Once the pieces are taken out of the box, it's pretty easy to put together. The roof piece was the heaviest item and that adds to the sturdiness of the pieces. The shed looks good and is functional. A little small for putting a lawn mower in, but perfect for plant pots, yard tools, and other miscellaneous outdoor type items. Of the three sheds I've had (1 from Rubbermaid and 1 from Suncast), I prefer this one from Brookstone. Just wish it was a bit larger. Otherwise, it's great!

(More customer reviews)This is a great storage solution for lawn equipment (push mower, not rider), yard tools, etc. We bought one to hide behind our new home because our home owner's association has rules about sheds and because it's low-profile, so it sits under the windows where we have it. Very easy assembly.
Don't buy this online at these prices. The Home Depot near me is selling it right now for under $280. This is their standard price, not a sale.

Suncast Storage Building Review

(More customer reviews)If you are in the market for a vinyl or resin type storage building, this is certainly one worth looking at. There are not a lot of reviews posted on this shed at the present, so take your time and do your homework before choosing any of them. I would advise a visit to your local Lowes or Home Depot to look at vinyl buildings first handed. Regarding building the shed, I built my Suncast 10' x 12' on a 3/4" exterior grade, treated plywood platform and 2" x 6" lumber as opposed to a concrete slab. I used "Dek Blocks" to support the platform, which really made the job easy to level and very strong. I used 27 blocks in total or 3 Dek-Blocks per 10' joist. Making sure the platform is square and dead level is key to building this shed. If you do a good job on the base, the assembly of the shed is really quite simple and even rewarding when completed. Most of the shed snaps together which I found unusual. That concerned me with regards to durability but I have certainly overcome that comfort level. The parts are indeed well built, extremely precise and although some of the parts seem to be quite flimsy out of the box "mainly the walls", once the assembly is completed and all tied together, the shed is really quite sturdy. I followed my own intuition regarding the building of the platform as I found Suncast's instructions quite poor in that area. Common sense will help you through that. Personally, I like the Royal Winchester storage building a tad more as the side walls and roof panels are built using 2" thick material honeycomb resin panels. This building is very solid! The Winchester shed which measures 8' x 10' is sold at your local Lowes. I did not choose this shed as the extension kit to make it 10' x 12' was way too expensive. Rubbermaid 3746 Deep Large Vertical Storage Shed, 52-inch x 77-inch x 32-inch Review

(More customer reviews)This RUBBERMAID shed which was not cheap for it small size, held up for EXACTLY, 1 year and 3 months. The doors seems a bit warped, and actually did measure, about 1/8" warp, in the mid-panel on one door. While the poorly designed door assembly will fit into place at installation, the design mechanism to HOLD them in place, is far too flimsy for the weight of the doors to be maintained for any long period of time. So, if a wind in excess of 20mph comes along, be careful. The design is terrible, both doors, went flying down our driveway on winter day with a 20-25mph, moderate wind gust, definitely, NOT SEVERE! These Rubbermaid doors, never stayed on after that, the nipples that held them in placed, were damaged by scraping on cement. We had to scrap the entire shed.
If you call Rubbermaid's Customer Service, don't be surprised when their people give you a hard time, don't give you much in the way of troubleshooting and tell you: "YOU MUST HAVE INSTALLED SOMETHING WRONG" or "IT STATES ON THE PACKING BOX, DISASSEMBLE THE UNIT IN HIGH WINDS." After spending the time to read the instructions assemble the unit, load it up with garden tools etc., how many people want to take it down each time a 20 mph breeze comes along? Their Customer Service people were terrible and make no attempt at all, to troubleshoot, and didn't care at all, our expensive garden equipment was exposed to the elements and to theft. There's nothing written, about "high winds" on the actual instructions, but they'll tell you, it's on the BOX and you should have noted that. And, exactly what is a high wind, 25mph? They sure don't say. Be persistent, they won't send you replacement doors even if they are defective, but they'll send you a lot of other components that won't work 2 months later later. You'll have a hard time convincing them, but keep calling, you might get the one person who isn't arrogant and condescending to help you...there really is only one person there who tried to help; we talked to about 4.
We had a lot of confidence in Rubbermaid before this shed incident, but now would never even consider any of their products agains for outdoor storage. By the way, we're not in a very windy area, we're in the middle of Pennsylvania! So, can you imagine how many times anyone who lives in a Tornado or Hurricane zone, would have to disassemble their unit?
Get a shed that's made of wood or metal!

DuraMax Model 00611 4x8 SideMate Vinyl Storage Shed Review

(More customer reviews)This shed is the only vinyl one that fits my space, however, it needs to be positioned to the right of my house. I assumed that a vinyl modular shed can be assembled with the roof sloping to the right side, and not as pictured.
oh boy - I was wrong. when the shed came, I found out that this is the most over-complicated product I've seen to date. there is absolutely no part symmetry, and each part has to be assembled EXACTLY as directed by the lengthy (30 pages) instruction manual. even parts that could have been symmetric, thus simplifying the installation process and manufacturing costs are not. why do they have to include different parts for front and back roof? they are identical parts with different hole patterns. if you drill one more hole, this part could be assembled both as back support or front, saving me identification of "RS2FC" from "RS2BC", same goes to "RS5C" and "RS6C", that has to be assembled together in a specific direction, or else, one of the roof pins will not be able to fit...
once assembled, I'm happy with the quality and stability of that thing, but such a long time to put it up...
Customer support claimed that the roof cannot be flipped, and their engineering is working on a flipping kit. here's what I did in order to flip the roof, no extra parts or kits needed:
assemble the base as instructed
cut the vinyl coating (and not the metal pole) of "CDRC" at the length of "CCB"
Drill the pins that hold the door's hinges to "CDRC", take the hinges apart, and save them
take the bottom vinyl coating of "CDRC" (the longer part) out of the pole
take the vinyl coating of "CCB" out.
inset the metal pole of "CDRC" into the vinyl extracted from "CCB"
insert the metal pole of "CCB" into the vinyl extracted from "CDRC"
reattach the door hinges to "CCB"
you should get a "CCB" pole similar to "CCC", but with door hinges instead of the dual panel support
invert all wall parts ("CMB" for "CMC", "SP" for "SPC") and continue assembly of the walls
cut one of the flaps of "FCC" to be assembled over the modified "CDRC" (now shorter)
assemble the roof, but invert all front and back parts
enjoy!

I wanted something sturdy and weatherproof that I could lock up and put out across the parking lot of the townhouse apartments that I live in. Not enough room on the patio for storage. This went together well, after I read the instructions and is holding up great so far. I drilled 2 small holes to run a u shaped hook through the back and caulked it so I could chain it to a fence back there. So far it is doing well with some very heavy rain, high winds and hot sun. It doesn't come with the shelves anymore, but I bought a plain wire shelf from rubbermaid's closet series that fits in there fine. I have lawn chairs and a trimmer and some garden stuff on the bottom and then storage for other small things on top. This was a good value if you shop around for the best price and is made so much better than the cheaper brands that it is well worth it.
