Master Lock DSNRN0603PBOX Nightwatch Deadbolt with Bump Stop Cylinder, Bright Brass Review

Master Lock DSNRN0603PBOX Nightwatch Deadbolt with Bump Stop Cylinder, Bright Brass

If you're not familiar with Bumping, I'll explain it. While it is illegal, you can purchase Bump Keys on the internet for just about any kind of lock. Then a person inserts the key & taps it with a screwdriver etc. You can make Bump Keys yourself, but they sell for just a couple bucks on the internet & that's usually what dumb criminals do. After being broken into multiple times & spending a small fortune continually changing locks, we learned how they were getting in. Kwikset is probably the easiest for them to get into, but no salesperson will tell ever you that. As it happens, most people do have Kwiksets. Although, other brands fare poorly too.
Once we installed this on the interior garage door & the Master Bump Stop Combination lock on the front door, the problem was solved. Actually, I came home one day to find a small dent & scratch on my front door lock. Obviously, the thieves couldn't get in & they were mad. YEAH!!! These are the only locks I would ever buy & they're the only ones I advise anyone to buy. A professional locksmith could probably get in, but your run of the mill criminals certainly can't.
I might add one more thing. I never use the Nightwatch feature. As I understand it, it does wear the lock out faster & I don't really need the feature anyway. It's the Bump Resistant feature that makes this & the Master Combination Locks a Must Have for any home.

Masterlock Smart Touch Finger Activated Garage Door Opener [Misc. Review

This is the second time I've purchased this product. Unfortunately, the first was destroyed by a natural disaster. I have definitely missed it. The first time I had to order directly from the manufacturer and it took almost a year to receive but this time I received it in 3 days. I love this! It works fine. I can add and delete people as I want to and no forgotten codes. Also, no one can "share" their finger so I know exactly who comes and goes! I think it's been updated cause it seems even easier to install. Had it up and running in 10 minutes.

I was tasked with getting some new locks on our office space after an employee was let go.
The time it would take to get a new lock and 35 keys made vs. the cost of this is a no-brainer.
Excellent build quality - works great.
Don't hesitate to buy.

Don't bother with them. The range is about 10 feet, and you don't realize how short that is, until you're only 10 feet away. One actually needed to be tweaked on the inside before it even worked.

Kwikset 907 15 SMT CP Powerbolt Deadbolt with SmartKey, Satin Nickel Review

Kwikset 907 15 SMT CP Powerbolt Deadbolt with SmartKey, Satin Nickel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Read the other reviews, my expereince is the same. The unit failed within 1 year, while it worked, it was great, we could set up a second entry code for our friends or house guest and not have to worry about getting a key back from them. But at last, the unit started beeping on it own then kills the batteries within 24 hours. It's obviously a design flaw.
The real pain in the butt is that you have to drill holes into your door to install this unit. Holes that won't be covered by any other door lock on the market. So when this unit fails,(which is highly likely) you'll be face with replacing your door or finding an exact replacement. I have a metal door, I might be able to take it somewhere and have it fixed. What a PITA.
This is an old model that you should avoid. The newer models are much smaller so you won't have to drill the 5 extra holes this one takes. It will cost you more but will be worth it. I hope this helps you, please take the time to write reviews for others, I should have read the ones posted here first.

No more fumbling for that key with an armful of groceries, the Powerbolt electronic touchpad deadbolt provides the convenience of keyless access for today's active lifestyle. The Powerbolt permits access with your personalized code or a key. The unit also lets you set up a temporary code for service workers or house sitters. A one-touch locking, full 1-inch projection deadbolt is powered by just 4 AA batteries. Two regular keys included should you forget your code. The Powerbolt is programmable for four- to eight-digit personal entry codes and has two-code capacity. It is easy to install, easy to program and easy to use. Best of all, the Powerbolt requires no wiring and easily replaces existing door hardware. The interior faceplate can be painted to match décor . And, a low-battery indicator light alerts when batteries are starting to deplete. --Brian D. Olson

Schlage FE595VPLY505PLY Plymouth Keypad Knob Door Lock, Bright Brass Review

Schlage FE595VPLY505PLY Plymouth Keypad Knob Door Lock, Bright Brass
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I now have three Schlage keyless locks. Front and back doors and the garage side door. No more keys! No more fumbling for the right key. No more lock outs. I have all set to the same combination four digit number. Schlage is the best lock on the market for home use. Their locks are built to last and have very close tolerances making them hard to pick open. There is also a bypass keyway, if necessary. The combinations are easy to change and you can have more than one number if you want to give one out temporally.(cleaning lady or handyman, etc.) Once used, it is easy to erase. My lock model locks automatically every time the door is closed. I consider this as a real security asset. No more unlocked doors. Other lock models have a thumb turn on the inside so you can lock it only when you want to. The 10 digit numbers also light up at night or dim areas (a cool color blue) at the push of a button on the lock face. Anyone with kids should have these locks. Do away with the term "latch key kid", for good!

Schlage BE365VCAM716 Camelot Keypad Deadbolt, Aged Bronze Review

Schlage BE365VCAM716 Camelot Keypad Deadbolt, Aged Bronze
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For years we have been using a key pad activated deadbolt for front doors in our various homes - no keys to lose or give to various family members - only four digit codes. Up until now, all of the key pad units we have installed, extend and retract the deadbolt using a small battery powered electric motor.
This issue we've encountered is when the batteries become weak, the motor (in some cases) does not have enough power to retract the bolt and we must revert to another entrance to get into our home. Although these unit allow one to use a key to override the electronics, we never seem to have the key "on us" when it's needed. Fortunately we have a keypad on our garage door and that serves as an alternative entrance when this occurs. These deadbolt retraction failures have been occurring more and more often even with fresh batteries. I suspect the motor is or has worn out.
With this in mind, I shopped the market for an electronically activated dead bolt with manual bolt action. In other words, instead of a motor extending and retracting the deadbolt, one would use a lever or knob to perform this function. The keypad (electronic segment of the unit) would serve to activate the manual knob or lever. I found the Schlage BE365VCAM619 Camelot Deadbolt Keypad, Satin Nickel on Amazon at an extremely reasonable price and it has all of the features I wanted - electronic key pad activation, manual extension and retraction of the deadbolt upon activation.
The unit arrived yesterday and after a few problems with the unit being confused as to whether the bolt was retracted or extended (my fault), the unit works perfectly. Note, I already had a deadbolt lockset on the door, so it was a simple process of removing the old, and installing the new.
It's an extremely high quality unit without the cheap plastic casing my prior unit had on the inside casing. It's all metal. Changing or adding key pad codes (combinations) is relatively easy. One must enter the units six digit master code (don't lose this code, keep it in a place that you can go to each time you wish to change the codes - Using a permanent marker, I wrote it on the inside of the lock), and then enter your personal four digit code. We use two codes however the unit can store many codes. You may want to add a temporary code to let a service technician into your home, then delete that code when the work is completed.
One feature I like is the lighted key pad which our old unit did not have. If we forget to turn on the porch light, by simply pressing the "schlage" button at the top of the keypad, the keys light up.
Here's the basic operation.
When you're leaving the house, close the door, press the "schlage" button, wait for the click, then extend the deadbolt. You'll hear a confirmation click confirming that the locking knob/lever has been disengaged from the deadbolt after the deadbolt has been extended.
When you arrive home, simply enter your four digit code, you'll hear a click, then manually retract the deadbolt and enter the home. I you wish to use the keypad light; simply press the "schlage" button to light it up. Obviously this is not needed during daylight hours.
Basically the nine volt battery is operating the keypad, a knob/level engagement solenoid and the keypad back light and should last for hundreds and hundreds cycles.
Bottom Line - I highly recommend this high quality unit.

Schlage FE595VCAM716ACC Camelot Keypad Accent Lever Door Lock, Aged Bronze Review

Schlage FE595VCAM716ACC Camelot Keypad Accent Lever Door Lock, Aged Bronze
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently bought one of these for our home after we moved in. Now I don't need to fumble with keys every time I need to ket in the house, and I don't have to worry about kids losing or forgetting keys.
Like other schlage locks I have owned, this unit seems to be very well made, sturdy, and easy to install. The programming of codes is simple, and codes can be added or deleted just by using the keypad. Keypad use as far as entering codes or even updating codes is straighforward. The fact that a simple button push "lights up" the buttons at night is also cool.
The buttons are also epoxy-coated, so the numbers won't "wear off" thus revealing the codes used.I have a separate code for each family member, and can easily add codes if I have a contractor stopping by.
A key can be used to open the lock if for some reason the electronic part stops functioning (too cold from sub-sero weather, perhaps?). Since this is a Schlage lock, it can even be re-keyed so that the key you have matches the other Schlage locks your house may have.

Keyless Entry Deadbolt, Antique Brass Review

Keyless Entry Deadbolt, Antique Brass
Average Reviews:

The advertisement on the internet fails to mention a couple of things:
1) The numbers in the combination can be entered in ANY ORDER, exponentially reducing the number of possible combinations. If you choose 2345, you could also open the lock if you push 5432, 3245, any other order of those digits, or if you push those 4 digits simultaneously.
2) The lock as purchased only allows you to choose up to 4 digits for your combination. You have to send away and pay more for the other 2 digits.

LockState LS-6600-L-S 200-Code Keyless Digital Door Lock, Left-Hand, Silver Review

LockState LS-6600-L-S 200-Code Keyless Digital Door Lock, Left-Hand, Silver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was really disappointed by the LockState LS-6600 and will be returning it.
While the main portion of the lock seems well-built, the actual bolt into the door seems very second-rate and flimsy. Unfortunately, the stem that goes through the door and allows the handle to retract the bolt is larger than normal and won't fit the high-quality standard bolt that was already in the door.
I was also irritated by the lack of installation instructions. There *are* directions for programming the lock and even replacing the tumbler, but nothing on how to get the lock installed into the door. I was finally able to puzzle out how to separate the two halves of the lock so I could install it.
However, the lock is too tall! When installed, it WILL NOT FIT under the standard position for a deadbolt. It even intruded into the standard deadbolt hole, so, if you have a deadbolt installed, you can't even remove it and replace it with a cover.
The final irritant was the song. When you put in the access code, the lock plays a little tune that lasts about a second, maybe two. But the lock will not unlock until the song is over, so you have to wait on it. If there's a way to disable it, it must have been left out with the installation instructions.
