The unit installs and works well, but it doesn't seem to be very durable. The front cover easily becomes disconnected at the hinge during normal operation. The unit worked well for about a year, but it now completely fails to operate the door.

Genie Non-Intellicode GWK-BL Wireless Keypad

I bought this to replace a "ClickR" remote keypad that I was not able to get to work. This one was reasonably simple to set up, although it does require that you create a code based on switch settings. This particular unit will only work on the older openers that don't have the Intellecode technology built in. Worked the first time and now I have myself an outside keypad.

Genie, Series II Wall Control 34299R, Remote Control Review

Genie, Series II Wall Control 34299R, Remote Control
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The controller I had before this quit working. So i bought this one to replace it. It worked good for about 2 days and then started working acting the same as the other one. I came to find out that the problem was in the wiring on the back of the opener motor unit itself and not the switch. I have not been able to fix the wiring problem yet so all I can say about this switch is it worked great for me for two days. It looks exactly like the original switch that came with the opener and the night light works good.

Allstar 104078 Wireless Keyless Entry Review

Allstar 104078 Wireless Keyless Entry
Average Reviews:

2 suggestions to improve:
1) Add to directions "Hit power on key" before performing each programming step
2) For customers who only want one door to open, eliminate having to enter " * 1 " following the pin number
If first suggestion is taken, it would take about 10 -15 minutes to program and install. Took us about an hour because no where in the instructions did it say you have to hit the power button before following each of the programming steps. We lucked out!

Liftmaster 976LM/977LM 390Mhz Wireless Keyless Entry Pad Review

Liftmaster 976LM/977LM 390Mhz Wireless Keyless Entry Pad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Have a Chamberlain LiftMaster Professional model 2280 with "Security+" (just marketing talk for the rolling changing code that all openers have had for 10+ yrs), and an orange learn button (we'll come back to this) on the back of the unit under the rear translucent light bulb cover. The opener manual specifies a 976LM keypad for this unit. This keypad has a 9v battery, lights up, allows an additional temporary code to be set by # of openings or # of hours, and is grayish-cream in color. Two screws to mount the unit, with one mounting hole on the top outside of the keypad and the other behind the battery cover at bottom. Contrary to comments elsewhere: 1) you do not have to hold the buttons down longer to get them to "take" ... I just punch 'em in like any other keypad I've had over the years; 2) it does not take time to reset if you mistype ... it just takes the last 4 digits you entered before pressing Send and reacts immediately if you enter a new set. Nice because you don't have to close and re-open the cover or hit Send if you know you mistyped ... just enter the last 4 digits correctly before hitting Send; 3) the buttons are the common "rubbery" ones on most all openers and they're fine; and 4) you CAN set a temporary code. Now you're going to love this ... the Chamberlain website: a) doesn't recognize a 2280 model # garage opener (I'm staring at it on the cover of the manual and it's stamped on the opener); b) doesn't say anything about a 976LM keypad; c) specifies the 940CB keypad if you have a red learning button, or a 940D if you have a purple learning button, or a 740CB for "older models" (which bringing up the instructions says applies to yellow, grey, green, or white learning button units); and d) ... has no orange button recommendation! Unforgiveable. However, the instructions that actually come with the 976LM keypad clearly say it's for units "with an orange learning button" ... which is what I have ... go figure. Keypads are all $40 on Chamberlain site, so $25 here is a good deal. In summary, simple to install (2 screws), simple to program (press & release the Learn button on your overhead opener, enter a 4 digit code on the keypad, and press & hold Enter on the keypad until your garage opener light blinks), and works fine ... at least for us orange button people.

Linear 420001 300MHz Wireless Keypad Review

Linear 420001 300MHz Wireless Keypad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received this product quickly from ASP doors. Unfortunately, that is the only positive feedback I can offer.
I purchased a receiver and keypad that were defective. The assistance from Linear Corporation was less than adequate, and they were not able to address the problem. I could make the door actuate only when the transmitter was within 1" of the receiver antenna. Ultimately, Linear told me that I had to go to ASP Door to return the product.
It has been a month and multiple e-mails to ASP Doors - with absolutely no response. I will not consider purchasing any product from ASP Doors again. Be advised that if you do, and the product is defective, that there is no phone number for ASP Doors and that they do not answer e-mails.

MODEL 66LM Billion - 390 MHz Wireless Keyless Entry Review

MODEL 66LM Billion - 390 MHz Wireless Keyless Entry
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Previous to installation of this keypad, the only way to open garage door was with the 'clip-onto-car-visor' type remote, which is great IF you are in the car. But when I am outside, either sweeping, gardening, walking the dog, it is wonderful to punch in the code for garage door open access. This purchase was actually for other people who do not have the car remotes to gain entry, esp. family or repair person. So far though I am enjoying it. My brother installed it and I did not hear any complaints about how it went. Usually I do when things go wrong. P.S. If dark outside I first press ENTER to lightup the keypad.

Master Lock DSNRN0603PBOX Nightwatch Deadbolt with Bump Stop Cylinder, Bright Brass Review

Master Lock DSNRN0603PBOX Nightwatch Deadbolt with Bump Stop Cylinder, Bright Brass
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you're not familiar with Bumping, I'll explain it. While it is illegal, you can purchase Bump Keys on the internet for just about any kind of lock. Then a person inserts the key & taps it with a screwdriver etc. You can make Bump Keys yourself, but they sell for just a couple bucks on the internet & that's usually what dumb criminals do. After being broken into multiple times & spending a small fortune continually changing locks, we learned how they were getting in. Kwikset is probably the easiest for them to get into, but no salesperson will tell ever you that. As it happens, most people do have Kwiksets. Although, other brands fare poorly too.
Once we installed this on the interior garage door & the Master Bump Stop Combination lock on the front door, the problem was solved. Actually, I came home one day to find a small dent & scratch on my front door lock. Obviously, the thieves couldn't get in & they were mad. YEAH!!! These are the only locks I would ever buy & they're the only ones I advise anyone to buy. A professional locksmith could probably get in, but your run of the mill criminals certainly can't.
I might add one more thing. I never use the Nightwatch feature. As I understand it, it does wear the lock out faster & I don't really need the feature anyway. It's the Bump Resistant feature that makes this & the Master Combination Locks a Must Have for any home.

Chamberlain 940CB Security and Wireless Keypad Review

Chamberlain 940CB Security and Wireless Keypad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros: Sturdy, made from the same company as Garage door opener, Lit keypad, Easy to install, comes with 9V battery and screws
Cons: The battery compartment lid is not easy to open, only 4 digit code can be used
IMPORTANT: Make sure that the button on the garage door opener is RED, otherwise you need another keypad model. check this link http://www.chamberlainremotesonline.com/?gclid=COyJ0Z-auJgCFSIgDQodWF7AbA
When syncing the code with opener, remember to sync this keypad, car remotes and garage door opener button simultaneously. This means that
1-Press RED button on motor, green LED is lit
2-Enter 4 digit code on remote (as desired)
3-Now press enter key + car remote key + garage door opener button(fixed on wall ,not the RED button) at the same time (may require two persons) , ligth will blink and now all the devices will be synced. If you miss any remote during this process ,it will not work.Of course you can repeat the process.
4-Check all remotes and keypad are working
5-Now install it on the wall, for one of the screws you have to open the battery lid.
I don't know about the long term reliability of the product because it has only been a week since i have installed it.

Mighty Mule FM137 Digital Keypad Review

Mighty Mule FM137 Digital Keypad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It is nice that you have the option of using this in a wired or wireless configuration. In my case, wireless was the only way to go.
Like other 'programmable' wireless remotes, I expected a little pain in programming this one. The instructions have you press a certain key sequence and hold a working remote close to the unit until it beeps. The manual says it takes a little while. I must be impatient because I held it there for a good long time and it never beeped. But I tried it again and held the transmit button down for a very long time and sure enough, it finally beeped.
Programming access codes is very easy, much easier than other keypad devices I've used.
There is no delay in transmission, either. When I enter my code (I like the lighted button and beep feedback), my gate starts to open immediately.
Mounting is trivial.

Skylink G6KR Keypad Transmitter Set Review

Skylink G6KR Keypad Transmitter Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Much to my surpise after glowing reviews from others, this unit would only open my garage door about four inches. It won't close it at all.

I have a Liftmaster Security Plus garage door opener built in 1999 or 2000. That's clearly within the advertised parameters.

The customer support desk hours are only 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday (exactly when I need to be at work, not standing in my garage debugging something like this), so I checked the manufacturer's website at www.skylinkhome.com.

I found this chilling remark in the FAQ for the model 89 (that is what you're considering here - A Skylink Model 89):

"If your Chamberlain®/LiftMaster®/Sears® Garage Door Opener has the 'Learn' button and happened to close and then open for few inches. The model 39 and model 89 might not compatible to your existing garage door opener. Please contact our customer support for details at support@skylinkhome.com."

In other words, sorry, you're screwed. Enjoy trying to return your on-line purchase.

Of course, Skylink will be happy to sell you, for another $23 plus S&H, their model UR100A Universal Receiver. With benefit of this additional gadget, the model 89 universal transmitter actually becomes more universal. At least, 99.9% universal. The web site does say that it this combination "99.99% works with most brands of garage door openers".

Great, huh? Spend A LOT of time with their web site FAQ before buying. Universal? Not even close...

Genie GWKPD-BL New Wireless Keypad with Intellicode Review

Genie GWKPD-BL New Wireless Keypad with Intellicode
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Following the instructions, the set up of the following device was quick and easy with very little problem. It works as it claims it does, allowing you to use a code in order to open your garage, thus allowing you to keep a garage door opener outside, which is very useful for someone like me, with a detached garage.
This device lights up when any button is hit, thus allowing you to see it in the dark. The buttons are quite large, and the device is actually larger than the last one I owned, which is a good thing in this case, as you don't have to worry about button slippage as much when you have gloves on in the cold.
The reason it has a 4 star and not a 5 is because of two problems. First off, even when typing the code in correctly, it doesn't always work. Sometimes I need to retype the entire code, sometimes, just the open button, but for whatever reason, buttons occasionally do not register and you have to type the code in 2-3 times. My old one did this too, so that is not as big of a deal as my other problem.
The other problem is that the top cover is rather flimsy and does not stay on the device. It frequently falls of and I have to snap it back on. Just about every other time I use the device, simply picking up the lid causes it to snap off its' rather weak attachment to the keypad. It is annoying, not horrible, and the device still works fine. It pops back on just as easy as it pops off, but it is still a nuisance.
