This one was reasonably simple to set up, although it does require that you create a code based on switch settings. This particular unit will only work on the older openers that don't have the Intellecode technology built in. Worked the first time and now I have myself an outside keypad.

Genie GWKPD-BL New Wireless Keypad with Intellicode Review

(More customer reviews)Following the instructions, the set up of the following device was quick and easy with very little problem. It works as it claims it does, allowing you to use a code in order to open your garage, thus allowing you to keep a garage door opener outside, which is very useful for someone like me, with a detached garage.
This device lights up when any button is hit, thus allowing you to see it in the dark. The buttons are quite large, and the device is actually larger than the last one I owned, which is a good thing in this case, as you don't have to worry about button slippage as much when you have gloves on in the cold.
The reason it has a 4 star and not a 5 is because of two problems. First off, even when typing the code in correctly, it doesn't always work. Sometimes I need to retype the entire code, sometimes, just the open button, but for whatever reason, buttons occasionally do not register and you have to type the code in 2-3 times. My old one did this too, so that is not as big of a deal as my other problem.
The other problem is that the top cover is rather flimsy and does not stay on the device. It frequently falls of and I have to snap it back on. Just about every other time I use the device, simply picking up the lid causes it to snap off its' rather weak attachment to the keypad. It is annoying, not horrible, and the device still works fine. It pops back on just as easy as it pops off, but it is still a nuisance.

Skylink AA-433W Audio Alarm Review

(More customer reviews)I own two AA-433 units and have both set up to work with the control panel SC-001.
One of them has been nothing but trouble soon after purchasing. I have deleted the programming to the SC-001 [panel several times and reprogrammed, checked voltage of backup 9 volt battery and 120 volts at wall outlet and everything seems fine.
After being plugged in for a couple days it will just start to emit a medium beep followed by a solid tone until I shut it off via the switch on the back of the unit. Its very nerve racking. I have also had several false alarms which may have been caused by the motion detector picking up the sun shining off the floor.
Moving the motion detector seems to have fixed that so far. But this total system seems to be very tempermental. If you need to change a backup battery do not unplug that unit, if you do unplug it, it will need to be reprogrammed again!
I consider myself fairly handy and would not suggest a wireless system to those who are not handy when it comes to electronics! I honestly wish I had gone with a hard wired system. They are typically a lot more reliable.

(More customer reviews)I hired a garage door company to put a garage door and opener in my new home two years ago. I purchased this companies, opener with this keyless entry remote because they said it had a lifetime warranty on it. Having purchase several garage door openers from the local chain home stores I decided to spend almost three times the amount now and do the job right for a lasting result. I was foolish, in the beginning the opener itself had major issues. It would almost close and then pop back up and be open when I returned home from the store leaving my home and it's contents at risk. Of course after the first time I had to sit at the end of my driveway until it was completely down, before I could drive away. As on many occasions it would go back up and I would have to try 3-6 times to get it down. Often, I would have to go back in, turn it off, lower it manually, and leave through the front door, and then reverse the process to put my new car back in the garage on my return home. The garage door company had to come out like 5 times to get it adjusted properly over several months, of which I was told by several of the technicians "this motor is powerful but extremely sensitive". Every time they said it, I wished I would have been told that in the beginning so I could have selected a different product rather than deal with the current headache. Now, I went through all that to rate the Keyless entry pad I just purchased because I'm in the same situation with this entry pad. I had no choice but to buy it because the opener only opens with their brand of opener. The keypad works fine, but after a year and a half the numbers punch through the thin, unpadded plastic and show people who might be up to no good, what the code is, thereby blowing all security for the home, if the kids didn't set the alarm. Then it quit working. So if there right and the opener works for a lifetime I'm still out money purchasing a replacement keypad every year and a half! Do yourself a favor, pick another product, this one is a mess! Oh, by the way, the garage door company can no longer sell me the pads, because somebody else has the exclusive on it now, but when I went in they already new my problem, because almost every customer had had the numbers break through and they had an identically broken one at the store to show me were the battery was located! So be warned it's a common complaint!

Linear MDTK Megacode Garage Door Opener Keypad Review

(More customer reviews)This was installed new with our Linear garage opener. It was very inconsistent, sometime it would work, other times it wouldn't - we'd replace the batteries, or even open the battery compartment and it would work. Then the next time you go to use it weeks or months later, it wouldn't work. Most frustrating is that the battery compartment has very small sized screws that fasten it and when you're locked outside, you likely don't have an extra small screwdriver with you. After a year or so of replacing batteries, I bought another identical model, thinking it was just a bad keypad. But no - same problems, same keypad. After having more people get stuck outside and not able to get into the house I am getting a new and DIFFERENT keypad. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had similar issues. The garage door opener itself is fine, this keypad sucks.
