Genie GWKP-BL New Wireless Keypad with Intellicode Review

The unit installs and works well, but it doesn't seem to be very durable. The front cover easily becomes disconnected at the hinge during normal operation. The unit worked well for about a year, but it now completely fails to operate the door.

Genie Non-Intellicode GWK-BL Wireless Keypad Review

I bought this to replace a "ClickR" remote keypad that I was not able to get to work. This one was reasonably simple to set up, although it does require that you create a code based on switch settings. This particular unit will only work on the older openers that don't have the Intellecode technology built in. Worked the first time and now I have myself an outside keypad.

Genie GWKPD-BL New Wireless Keypad with Intellicode Review

Genie GWKPD-BL New Wireless Keypad with Intellicode
Average Reviews:

Following the instructions, the set up of the following device was quick and easy with very little problem. It works as it claims it does, allowing you to use a code in order to open your garage, thus allowing you to keep a garage door opener outside, which is very useful for someone like me, with a detached garage.
This device lights up when any button is hit, thus allowing you to see it in the dark. The buttons are quite large, and the device is actually larger than the last one I owned, which is a good thing in this case, as you don't have to worry about button slippage as much when you have gloves on in the cold.
The reason it has a 4 star and not a 5 is because of two problems. First off, even when typing the code in correctly, it doesn't always work. Sometimes I need to retype the entire code, sometimes, just the open button, but for whatever reason, buttons occasionally do not register and you have to type the code in 2-3 times. My old one did this too, so that is not as big of a deal as my other problem.
The other problem is that the top cover is rather flimsy and does not stay on the device. It frequently falls of and I have to snap it back on. Just about every other time I use the device, simply picking up the lid causes it to snap off its' rather weak attachment to the keypad. It is annoying, not horrible, and the device still works fine. It pops back on just as easy as it pops off, but it is still a nuisance.

The unit was easy to install and to program to my existing Overhead Door opener. My understanding is that Overhead Door openers are made by Genie so no problem was incurred. Great product at a reasonable price.

Excellent product and easy to install ( if you don't mind drilling
a hole in your garage and running wires). We were always losing the
remote garage door opener and this is the most convenient ever.

Genie Garage Door Opener Deluxe Wall Console and Button GPWC-2WLB Review

Genie Garage Door Opener Deluxe Wall Console and Button GPWC-2WLB

The house I lived in for a few years had sinlge push-button garage door opener. When I needed extra light in the garage; there was no way to turn on the garage door light & have it stay on. I wasn't that worried about it until I stumbled upon this unit, here.
Now, I have the ability to flip on the garage door light without opening the garage (the light only stayed for 5 minutes). So, YES, I like being able to turn the light on, seperatly. The buttons are illuminated in red. Plus, you can lock/unlock the buttons (stops the kids from playing with the buttons). Installation was simple - took like 2 minutes. Honestly, this is most likely a one-time purchase for me because I can't see it breaking or malfunctioning any time, soon. All in all, I'm happy.

A unit purchased May 2005 quit working 9 months later. A replacement installed at that time quit working 14 months later. The control unit was inside the garage, protected from weather. I recommend looking elsewhere for a keyless garage door opener.

I had no idea that they even made such a device until I helped my parents install their door on a detached garage and realized that without a walk-through door, there was a potential problem. Amazon's price was low and the Amazon Prime free shipping made the choice for me. I installed it in half an hour at below freezing temps. It took me longer to find a drill and bits than it did to actually install the item. It works just fine.

Genie GWK-BL Wireless Keypad Review

Genie GWK-BL Wireless Keypad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Genie Wireless Keypad was fairly simple to set up and install. Open it up and set your garage code based on your current garage door opener then install with 2 screws. The cover slides up and down and I think this is where this product fails. It worked really well for about a month. The up and down motion triggers a switch so you can enter your code. If you enter the code incorrectly you must close then reopen the cover. You also must make sure the red light comes on when you open. This is the problem we are now having. The red light doesn't come on because the cover isn't triggering the switch properly. We have to fiddle with it to get the light to come on so we can enter our code. Occasionally it just doesn't open when you enter the code. I think the newer ones with the hinged cover that lifts out and open probably work better, but we have an older garage door opener so had to go with this version.

This looks like my keypad, but how do I know if it's the right one? 1. Frequency: Check the back of your remote or keypad to make sure the frequency is 390mhz (megahertz). 2. Dip Switches: Open the battery compartment on your old garage door remote or keypad and look to see how many dip switches (tiny switches in a row) it has. If your old remote has 9 or 12 dip switches, then it's a match for this keypad. If you don't have your old garage door remote, you can also look to see how many dip switches are on the back of your garage door opener (the overhead unit in your garage). The number of dip switches on the back of the opener is the same as on the remote or keypad.

I HAVE THREE GARAGE DOORS AND A GATE THAT I USE THIS REMOTE FOR AND IT WORKS GREAT. THE SET UP ONLY TOOK A FEW MINUTES TO PUSH THE BUTTONS FOR PROGRAMING. I'VE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS REMOTE AND IT IS VERY DURABLE ON MY KEY CHAIN. THE KEY RING PART CAN DETACH FROM THE REMOTE, BUT ITS A LITTLE DIFFICULT TO PULL APART.

Liftmaster G1702LM Emergency Key Release Lock Review

Liftmaster G1702LM Emergency Key Release Lock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you have a garage for which the only entry is through an electrically operated overhead garage door, this type of cable/lock mechanism is a great solution for gaining entry during a power outtage. Using the provided instructions, it was easy to install this mechanism on my garage door and it works as advertised.
Unfortunately, it is only of adequate quality and some aspects are disappointing, though for a little over $20 I think it still represents a decent value.
As another reviewer has commented, the lock actually shipped is not the one shown in the product photo. Rather, it is a fairly flimsy-looking cylinder with a single-sided key that I suspect would be pretty easy to force open. Therefore I would not really recommend this product if you live in an area with high crime or where a break-in is a serious concern. There is no easy way to custom-tailor the length of the supplied steel cable, so the instructions recommend winding up the extra cable and wrapping it with a zip-tie; this is a crude solution at best. Finally, the carriage bolt mounting hardware supplied was very cheap and bent visibly after only the slightest tightening on my soft pine wood garage door. I will probably replace this with more sturdy fasteners.
Although the name "Liftmaster" was printed on a black and white label stuck to the plain brown cardboard outer packaging, I suspect this item is identical to similar products sold on Amazon as "Genie" and other brands. I chose this item over the others available on Amazon because I have Liftmaster garage door openers, but that was probably a pointless gesture.
