The Liftmaster 970LM is compatible only with garage door openers with an orange learn button and SECURITY+ logo. If you have purple learn button, then buy the Liftmaster 370LM instead, which operates at 315Mhz instead of 390Mhz.
Mine works great. Comes with instruction, battery and velcro. Programming is easy, just press the orange learn button, release it quickly, then press the center button on the remote, release it quickly, see confirmation light flashes or hear click click sound near the learn button. That's it. (Don't hold the learn button for more than 6 seconds, as it will clear all codes and make your other remotes useless.)
I have a detached garage. It used to be a hassle to carry the remote with me everywhere I go. Now I can just add this to my keychain and never have to think about it anymore. I didn't want to put the original remote (visor clip on type) inside my pocket, because it's large and a little pressure can push the button down accidentally which might close/open the garage door at unexpected time, causing injuries for my little baby running around. Now I have one hand free for holding my baby's hand or carring groceries.

(More customer reviews)I needed a garage door opener that was easier to carry and use while I rode my motorcycle. I was tired of removing my car's opener every time I needed it, and climbing off and back on the bike to operate our keypad was a pain in the you-know-what.
For a very low price, I found this small, lightweight remote that I can carry on my key chain. It was very simple to program with our Craftsmen door opener. (red/orange button models only!) The range is pretty good, too. I stop my bike out on the road to open the door, before riding up the incline of my driveway and never have an issue with the signal. Compared to paying the price of a name brand, full size remote, this is an amazing bargain.

Chamberlain 956EV Garage Keychain Remote Review

(More customer reviews)I was very disappointed to discover that my brand-new 2011 model year vehicle did not come with any kind of garage door opener/homelink option. In looking for a garage door remote, I had purchased another Chamberlain remote that worked well but I didn't like the idea of keeping a remote "loose" in my car (too easy for thieves to break in steal it while getting my address from my insurance and/or registration cards). I liked the idea of a keychain remote but it seemed like none of them were capable of controlling more than one kind of a garage door at a time. I called Chamberlain to ask them if they had any keychain remotes that could control more than one type of garage door and they recommended the 956EV. Boy, am I glad they did - this thing is great!!!!
It's a tiny remote (almost identical in size to my key fob but lighter) and it can control 3 different doors. I programmed it to control my garage door (green learn button), my mother's garage door (orange learn button) and my sister's garage door (purple learn button). It could not have been easier to program (probably took me 3 minutes total for all three doors) and I love being able to open all three doors via a tiny remote on my keychain. I know that some people won't want to add anything else to their keychains but if you're like me and don't want to keep a remote in your car, this is the way to go. Kudos to Chamerlain for making such an awesome device.
Before purchasing though, make sure your garage door is compatible with this device. It says that it will only work with 315MHz or 390MHz garage door openers manufactured after January 1, 1993 and your garage door needs to have safety sensors. It works with green, red, orange, purple and yellow learn buttons so chances are it will work with most openers out there but make sure you check what kind you have before you purchase. If your garage door is compatible, you will love this thing. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

(More customer reviews)Item is used as a garage door opener for my motorcycle and is kept on my key ring. It is a little bigger than I imagined; bigger than my car remote. Programming involved moving tiny jumpers onto specific pins and may be difficult for some.
I would have liked to have found a smaller remote that had some degree of weather-proofing, but I am unaware of any other remote that would work with my (older) garage door opener.
Other than that, it has worked like a charm and I am happy with it.

I checked few products and found this remote matching the make of my garage opener and the motor does emit orange color LED light when I press the help button. It took me about a minute to erase all old codes from the motor and configure the remote. It works perfectly, only downside that I could think of is the range. For me it worked only up to 25 feet, but again, its enough for me.
