Liftmaster 41A4373A Garage Door Opener Safety Beams Review

(More customer reviews)My garage door sensors, after several years, have failed to work properly. I asked for a repair quote and was told it would cost more than $80 to repair and that was if they ran into no complications. I decided the proposed charges were excessive and chose to change out the sensors myself.
To install, cut the wires from the old sensors and remove from their mount. Save the mounting bolts as none are included with the safety beam sensor kit. Splice the wires and connect to the new sensors using the supplied crimp connectors. Align the sensors using the alignment indicator lights. Then throw away the old sensors.
For me purchasing this lit and spending about 15 minutes in the garage is well worth the savings. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, perhaps this kit is for you too.PRO:

Chamberlain 78LM Multi-Function Control Panel Review

(More customer reviews)Easy to install, comes with wire in case you do not have it, bought through Sanford and Sons (lol, great name), and fulfilled by Amazon, delivery was great, easy transaction.
This was a replacement for a Raynor garage door control panel (9 years old), works perfect, and is exactly the same, seems as though this unit is same as used on multiple brands, Raynor, Chamberlain, Liftmaster, Sears, etc.
Until I got the unit, I did not know how to access the mounting screws, but it is easy, just insert a flat head screw driver at the top of the white button an pry down slightly and the button comes out allowing you to access the mounting screws, and then you disconnect, reconnect the wires on the back and off you go.

I needed a second opener that would work with my existing unit, and thought I could program this remote to match what I have. However, the way this transmitter works is by reprogramming your system to fit itself. It cannot be calibrated to fit your system. So if you are looking for a single replacement remote and you have an orange programming light on your garage unit, this may work for you. But if you want a second or spare opener, look elsewhere.

(More customer reviews)First, I wanted to offer compliments to other reviewers that described the symptoms of the gears being bad - the "snow", the stop-and-starts, the stop working altogether but can still hear the motor running - nailed it exactly. Very clear to me after reading those that this was exactly the product I needed. It is exactly what it says it is - an OEM Liftmaster gear replacement assembly. The directions that come with it are excellent - step-by-step, and it explains exactly what you need to do. The directions are the best part of this product - if they were not so well done, it would be impossible.
No knock against the product, but installation was considerably more work than I expected. I had visions of undoing a couple of screws, popping out a gear, putting in the new ones, and being done - boy, I couldn't have been more wrong. The process can best be summarized as "take your garage door opener completely apart, removing all pieces, wires, etc. Around 30 to 50 screws, wires and pieces to remove. Replace gears. Re-assemble." Very important to ziplock and label all pieces and screws as you go, label the disconnected wires with masking tape so you keep everything straight.
With practically no re-work or mess-ups, it took me every bit of 4 hours for the fix. Was starting to wonder if this was the best way to spend my Saturday afternoon or if I just should have bought a whole new opener.....of course, would have had to install that too. That said though, the product works exactly as promised, and the directions are great.
Also kudos to Amazon seller "Sanford and Son" - I ordered it Monday night, was in in mailbox on Friday, in time for the weekend project.

Genie 1042-2TX BELTLIFT DC Belt Garage Door Opener Review

(More customer reviews)When my 12 year old craftsman finally broke I decided to go looking for a replacement. I settled on this genie since it was around the same price as replacing with a chain drive craftsman. I was worried that this would require a lot of work to replace. To my delight the old craftsman brackets worked with this genie! I was also able to use the wires from the old sensors and wall switch.
Here is a short review of this new unit.
Install:
Took me about 3 hours total including removing the old opener (took about 30 mins to remove), setting limits and force, and programming remotes and homelink in my cars.
I did have the luxury of using the old header mount and motor mounts that used to hold the craftsman which saved me a lot of time.
The only thing that should be changed are the sensors. They are hardwired on the sensor unit so you have to cut the wire and splice if you already are prewired for sensors. Not that big of a deal but just adds and extra step. They do provide wire ties for this.
I also noticed that the directions are somewhat confusing when you are to engage the carriage to the belt. It does not explain that you have to "lock" the emergency release again, it comes unlocked by default. Read the directions on the emergency release cable and it explains how to do this.
Overall the install was pretty simple and instructions were easy to follow.
Performance:
The unit is nice and quiet. You can still hear the motor but it is A LOT quieter than my old chain driven craftsman.
I really like how you set limits. It is very very easy. You simply push a button forward until you feel the door should stop and press a button. Same way for open setting.
I also like how the door slows down a bit before it closes so your door does not slam to the ground.
Force settings are the same as most openers you turn a dial with a screw driver.
Wall unit is pretty cheap looking and only a single button with no button to turn the light on or lockout button like my old craftsman had. I think you can buy this separately for around $10 on ebay but i'm not sure.
This also does not come with a keypad.
Remote learning was simple. You push the learn button on the power head and then press the remote button twice.
Overall:
I would recommend this system to replace an old opener or even for a new install (although you may need some additional parts such as support brackets etc.)
Operation is awesome and it is a breeze to install.

Liftmaster 377LM 315MHz Garage Door Keypad Review

I was looking to set up the availability of opening the garage door this way for a while now, but hadn't found the right control that would work with my garage opener. This one is perfect. You can control multiple doors with a single remote. I have 2 garage doors, and each one is programmed with a different sequence. I can open them individually.
You can close different doors individually by pressing the corresponding key sequence, or close all the doors that are open with a single push of the enter button. It works great.
The seller was great. A click away remotes did a no hassle return after I purchased the incorrect one the first time. This one only works with Liftmaster garage openers that have the purple learn button. And it is the only one I have found. I looked around.
If unsure, go to the liftmaster website for the product compatibility charts.
Awesome product, great experience with the seller.

As the opener is a Sears product, I checked with them for a remote, & as they no longer make this particular one, I was told I'd have to order their universal remote at $80+ dollars. I elected to check online 1st & found this item. As one of our vehicles has buttons on the visor to program such electronics as the garage door opener, I needed the remote to be able to do that as well. I was relieved to find that the remote was easy to program to work the opener and thrilled that it also easily programmed to the car buttons.

In addition to setting the dip switches on the remote, I had to invoke the "Learn" feature on my garage door opener for it to respond to the new remote. This is simple task, and the instructions are included.
Once you get it working, there isn't much left to critique.

(More customer reviews)Being down to our last remote for our old garage opener, I was beginning to wonder how to get another remote. I got this just for fun, I didn't think it would work, but it was inexpensive enough to try out.
After reading the instructions, I was now absolutely positive it would not work. You have set dip switches (open your current remote and set it to the same dip switch pattern), and press the remote button a certain number of times (in my case 17 times). So here I am, pressing the button 17 times, thinking how stupid this is, but on the 17th press, amazingly the door opened. Of course, after you do this, you only have the press the button once to get it to work, but there seems to be a delay as it runs through your programming again.
